Our newcomers’ sessions are a great way to try out meditation and to find out about Buddhism for the first time. We teach two simple but effective meditation practices drawn from the Buddhist tradition – the Mindfulness of Breathing and the Metta Bhavana (or cultivation of loving-kindness), as well as other ways to bring aliveness, contentment and meaning to your life.
Wear something comfortable, no need to bring anything – we provide cushions & chairs and will help you find a comfortable way to sit.
No need to book – just turn up. No experience needed – suitable for complete beginners. We don’t make a charge for these sessions but donations to help keep the Centre running are welcome and needed.
- Thursday Lunchtime Meditation 12.30 – 1.30pm
- Wednesday evening 7.30 – 10 pm — sessions for both complete beginners and those familiar with meditation.

The best way to learn to meditate is through a course. We typically run three or four introduction courses per year (see below). These are six-week courses exploring the theory and practice of Buddhism and the practice of meditation. Suitable for both complete newcomers and those with experience.
For courses & classes to follow-on from introductory courses or drop-in classes see Next Steps.
